Well, I tried to check out your recommended avatars, stev. I could do 'Sexy Librarian' I think. Unfortunately these were all Denied by our firewall. Reason: Reputation. Are you trying to corrupt me, young man? Rofl.
I do the corrupting 'round here. I'm a femme du monde AND a Sexy Librarian. But this avatar I've got will have to suffice for now. It really looks a lot like me in fact. Story of my life. On the inside, I feel like Irene Adler. On the outside, I look like this, kind of, on a good day.
Thanks for the thought though. Ciao!

Hi everyone, Very sad and disappointed the forums have gone so remembered to find my way here again.
I wish I had made a note of the musical artists I'd posted on the music forums.

Hikari
I feel for you with your neighborhood problems. Mine is blessedly quiet, almost too quiet really. Provo, UT, is supposed to be the baby capital of the world, but everywhere I've lived in the city, it's been quiet. I've lived in this house for 29 years, and there have always been young families in this long block, but the quietness stubbornly remains. Well, one family lasts the little ones out to play at dusk for a while, but it doesn't last long. I've always felt that the sounds of children playing are a pre-echo of the future, and I've found it reassuring. I'm hoping those children include young people who, when they grow up, will enjoy and value the things I do, like faith, love of reading, and love of classical music and opera. I want all those things to have a future, even though I haven't contributed to the population, so, in a way, other people's children are my future too. I value those sounds as they are the sounds of continuity. Now where the heck are all the darned kids?!

A family with three kids, about 5, 6, and 7, just moved in next to us. Cute as bugs, lively, and for a wonder, well-behaved!

Kirk Douglas is 101 today Catherine Zeta-Jones posted a photograph posing with her father-in-law Kirk Douglas - just days after a website claimed that he had died. The Welsh actress cited him as a "hero" in the Instagram post, in celebration of his 101st birthday. She celebrated the landmark birthday of her husband Michael Douglas' father with a sweet tribute in which Zeta-Jones wrote: "101 today!!!! My darling Pappy on my knee. "Happy Birthday to my wonderful, inspirational and loving father in law, Kirk. Love you with all my heart. #hero." The message comes four days after the website Action News 3 wrongly published an article claiming that Kirk had passed away. In the hoax story, it claimed the actor had "died of natural causes" and released a fake statement from "family". www.walesonline.co.uk/lifestyle/showbiz/catherine-zeta-jones-poses-photo-14016575

Many happy returns to Kirk Douglas. I think he proposes to outlive his kid. Just a quick invitation to everyone here to join me over on www.SherlockForum.com, which is where I've been spending my time since the sad demise of our Amazon Discussions. Though it is devoted largely to the BBC 'Sherlock', there is a Miscellaneous forum and it is there I have set up an alterative Detectives Lounge to replace the one we have lost. I just started it yesterday so so far I am the only poster, but I'm hoping to change that. So c'mon down if you enjoy chatting about all things Detective. The current theme is the 'Twelve Murderous Days of Christmas.' Hope to see you!

Well, hello old friend, it's been a while. Contrary to your post above, I don't consider myself lucky to have not seen you.
My TV viewing lately has been taken up with Elementary and Game of Thrones. I had watched their first seasons back when they first aired on their networks, and hadn't cared for either one. My current viewing of them from DVDs and BDs respectively has made for varying experiences. I've become a true fan of Elementary and a true despiser of Game of Thrones. The first show is unfailingly engrossing and the second is woefully disgusting and annoying, IMO, anyway.
Good to hear from you.

Stop by for tea or a cocktail! It appears this lounge has been abandoned and therefore closed. A shame.
